Meet The Founder

  • 100% 100%

Ms. Tanisha Jackson is the founder and Lead Teacher at Tolenas Farms Academy. She has over 20 years of experience teaching young children.

Tanisha has gained valuable experience working with neurotypical and neuro-diverse children across classrooms, clinics, churches, and residential settings. She respects individual differences and believes that each child has great potential. She is passionate about creating learning spaces and opportunities to support children’s growth and exploration by expanding their daily experiences to develop confident, intellectual, curious learners that are prepared to tackle the world’s toughest challenges.

Continued Education

January 2022, she began learning about Agriculture and what it means to be a conservator of the land in which we live. She has expanded her love of caring for children, families, and communities to include environmental stewardship. Her mission is to spread this knowledge to our children, their families, and communities.

Education

In 2016 Tanisha began working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis to expand her knowledge of teaching children with diverse learning styles. While enrolled in Diablo Valley College’s Early Childhood Education program, she was inspired by Reggio Amilia’s (play-based) Curriculum. She holds an Associate in Science Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development with an emphasis on Early Childhood Development, and a Master of Arts Degree in Special Education. Over the years, she has been able to combine skills learned in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis and the Reggio Emilia Approach to support students in the classroom and skill acquisition of her clients diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.

You see a child play, and it is so close to seeing an artist paint, for in play a child says things without uttering a word. You can see how he solves his problems. You can also see what’s wrong. Young children, especially, have enormous creativity, and whatever’s in them rises to the surface in free play.

Our Mission

  • 100% 100%

Tolenas Farms Academy’s mission is to provide an innovative, collaborative, hands-on curriculum that fosters growth and development of the whole child. We do this by nurturing children’s natural curiosity, allowing exploration, experimentation, and manipulation of objects to help guide learners to their own conclusions to develop confidence socially, emotionally, and academically prepared for success. Our programs exist to provide safe, nurturing learning environments that promote respect for self, others, and the environment.

Tolenas Farms Academy

Tolenas Farms Academy is a unique and innovative community-based program that seeks to educate and empower individuals, families, and communities in the pursuit of healthy living, sustainability, and agriculture. Founded in 2022 with a mission to provide educational and experiential programs that create a more sustainable and vibrant future for our communities.

At Tolenas Farms Academy, our mission is to foster an appreciation of nature, land stewardship, and sustainable practices. We believe in educating individuals and communities in the importance of healthy lifestyles and sustainable agriculture. Our goal is to ensure that all individuals have access to the knowledge, resources, and opportunities necessary to become effective stewards of the environment and the land.

Our programs are designed to promote a deeper understanding of the natural environment, the science of agriculture, and the value of sustainable farming practices. Through hands-on outdoor learning experiences, classroom-based instruction and field trips to local farms, participants learn about the importance of healthy eating, conservation, and responsible agriculture. Participants also gain an appreciation of the land, its inhabitants, and the balance between food production and environmental stewardship.

Tolenas Farms Preschool

At Tolenas Farms Preschool, our mission is to foster an understanding and appreciation of the natural world in children. We believe that nature provides an ideal setting in which children can learn and explore, and we strive to offer a unique educational experience that prepares children to be successful in their academic and personal lives.

We are committed to giving children an education that is filled with exploration and discovery. We combine traditional teaching methods with a nature-based approach that encourages children to explore, investigate, and observe the world around them. We also strive to provide an environment that encourages open communication and positive relationships between students, teachers, and parents.

At Tolenas Farms Preschool, we believe that education should not be limited to the classroom. We encourage our students to go outside and explore the natural environment around them and to take risks and develop problem-solving skills. We also promote healthy habits in our students by providing healthy snacks, physical activities, and outdoor play.
